A soaked resident filed a 311 complaint about the water feature that GBH is now running nightly along the sidewalk outside its studios at Guest and Market streets in Brighton:
Can we please get GBH to not point their sprinklers at the sidewalk? Just trying to get home from work without getting soaked. The sprinklers rotate directly into the street. It forces pedestrians to walk into the road or get absolutely blasted by water. Very unpleasant.

Often the sweep angle can be adjusted with a simple twist, or a flathead screwdriver. Probably no one has bothered to calibrate the sweep angle, but a bit of street vigilantism could probably accomplish it within minutes.
The real problem though is why water at night, just gonna encourage powdery mildew.... dawn and dusk is better.
