Supporters of the Shah never die, they just become Magats and wave flags around in Coolidge Corner

Trumpies in Coolidge Corner

A correspondent forwards this video of some Trump supporters in Brookline's Coolidge Corner today, waving, among other things, the flag Iran used until the Shah was overthrown in 1979, as the Orange One blares about how he'll ban vaccinations in schools and suppress transgender athletes, in one of the places least likely to vote for him - in 2020, Biden defeated tfg 87-11 in Brookline.

In my hometown in Long Island there are a large number of emigres who left Iran when the Shah was deposed and also are vehement supporters of the orange one, though I have not heard of actual public demonstrations of this kind.

“Ahhh jeeezz.” -Archie (Shoebootie) Bunker

Having said that…..as an exercise of the imagination… what would have happened had the Shaw had not been overthrown (and the revolution not usurped by the totalitarian theocracy) and there was a stable successor in his mold? Like, for instance would there had been a greater degree of equality and universal suffrage by now, or is history ill-satisfied with a revolution, but is conspiring towards a great reformation?

I don’t know. If we can muster the fortitude to stand up to Putin’s nuclear blackmail and give Ukraine stand off weaponry to restore their borders and don’t abandon Israel to be “Coalition of the One” against the Iranian axis…then! then! we may have a future where there is no nuclear saber-rattling. And, who knows, people just may one day breathe free in Iran and elsewhere.

I’ll even put up with Magoo and John Boy Costello. Anything …..

It’s like an Energizer Bunny of a three year old asking why why why ad infinitum.

Why do you care? I’m just “the man on the street.” Isn’t this a marketplace of ideas?

Why do you ask?

Good point. Why is “why” the last of the five w’s?

Lee, I may have misinterpreted your comment as a request for Adam to give me the boot.

P.s., Why do I ask is a good question. Thank you for the spur to self-examination.

Really wish the Shaw was overthrown. Was always a big Star Market fan.

It wasn't that great for women in Iran when the Shah was in power. Way better than Sharia Law as practiced by the Ayatollahs but no where near US Women's Lib level freedoms.

Not sure they would venture out of their impressive residences to help the homeless, try petting a dog, or living in my high drama criminal activity neck of the concrete Sorry. cannot relate to the problems of those with cash flow, nice real estate, designer handbags, and a culture that does not believe that women are nothing but baby making machines with no civil rights

Than what's now going on in North Carolina:

Hurricane recovery officials in N.C. relocated amid report of ‘armed militia,’ email shows

LAKE LURE, N.C. - Federal emergency response personnel on Saturday had employees operating in hard-hit Rutherford County, N.C., stop working and move to a different area because of concerns over “armed militia” threatening government workers in the region, according to an email sent to federal agencies helping with response in the state.

As with Republicans everywhere, there's a wide streak of low-information, lead-chip-eating, irrelevant and hating it losers whose greatest pleasure in life is "owning the libs", by which they mean showing up and acting provocative and imagining that they seriously disrupted someone's day. The MA bunch particularly like showing up in the most liberal areas for these little stunts. They are happiest when they are making life worse for others, and this scratches their itch with little effort and zero risk.

There seems to be some idea that the Israelis are about to overthrow the Islamic Republic and restore Iran's monarchy. The Shah's son, Reza Pahlavi, lives in Egypt and aspires to reclaim his father's throne.

last week.

So Iran royalist flags and Israeli flags have been going together in demonstrations lately.

since they're getting ready to bomb Iran.

Isn't he getting a little long in the tooth?

King Charles III was 73 years old when he became the ruling monarch of England. Age has nothing to do with it @Ibb.

...he's 64 years old.

I appear to be mistaken, however, about his place of residence. Wikipedia says he lives in Virginia not Egypt.
