If you have a stolen AK-47 in your apartment, it might make sense not to lob snowballs at cops four floors below, East Boston man learns
Boston Police report officers investigating a report of gunfire in the area of 186 Havre St., off Visconti Road Sunday evening spotted a guy standing on a fourth-floor balcony - who, in response to being spotted, threw several snowballs at them.
Officers made their way to the fourth floor and knocked on the apartment door where they were met by the same male party they had observed on the rear balcony. When officers asked for identification, he immediately attempted to shut the door. After officers made peaceful entry to the apartment, they observed an unsecured AK-47 rifle and a 12-gauge shotgun and in plain view. Additionally, officers later located a 9mm Taurus handgun. Officers continued their investigation and determined that while the male did possess a valid firearm license, the AK-47 was not registered to him. It was later determined that the rifle had previously been reported stolen in 2016 in Holbrook, MA.
Police say that after an investigation, the officers concluded the man had been the one who fired the shots that brought them to the area to begin with. He was arrested on charges of discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a dwelling, unlawful possession of a firearm, assault by means of a dangerous weapon and improper storage of a firearm, police say.

Valid license??
Confused on how is one charged with illegal possession, yet one has a valid gun license??
One of the guns was stolen, police say
The AK-47, so he presumably didn't have a license for that specific gun.
Maybe because
a gun license doesn't cover stolen firearms? Just a guess.
isnt that how the boston
isnt that how the boston massacre started.
really snowballed out of
really snowballed out of control.
I don't think Crispus Attucks et al
had AK-47s.
History would have been very different if they had.
When officers asked for
That sequence of events doesn't make sense.
They skipped the part
where the officers said "No, don't shut the door," and he said "Oh, okay."
Later, while giving them a tour of his apartment, he added, "By the way, how do like my AK-47? I stole it myself!"
Ye olde dangerous snowball
Ye olde dangerous snowball weapon
People, people...
...one crime at at time, please.
Hold up
Since when does chucking a snowball at a cop give them probable cause to search your apartment?
Did they think he had more snowballs in there?
Search incident to arrest?
Snowball "missile" = assault, ergo SIA? idk
Ah, I missed the assault charge.
That explains entering the apartment, since he wouldn't come out.
But... assault charge for snowball is pretty dubious already. "Assault with a dangerous weapon"? Wow.
They also shot one of the firearms off the balcony....
I think that was the issue here.
