Balaclava'ed man points loaded gun at trooper chasing him in Roxbury, is arrested, police say
Boston Police report arresting a man on gun charges following a foot chase in the area of Dudley and Shirley streets in Roxbury around 4 p.m. on Wednesday.
Police say gang-unit officers and state troopers on patrol there "as a part of a community effort to reduce crime/fear as well as improve the quality of life of the Boston residents" spotted a man who "appeared to be extremely hypervigilant with a black balaclava mask covering his entire face" and who began to quickly walk away when he in turn spotted them - all the while "continuously reaching for his right pocket and pinning his side."
The officers identified themselves and attempted to make contact with the suspect in fear that he may be armed when he fled. As officers closed in on the suspect, he brandished a firearm and pointed it at one of the troopers in pursuit. After confronting the armed suspect he discarded the firearm and attempted to flee once more, the suspect was apprehended shortly after.
Elios Alves, 27, of Dorchester, was charged with assault with a dangerous weapon, illegal possession of a firearm, illegal possession of ammunition, illegal possession of loaded firearm, possession of Class B drugs and trespassing, police say.
Innocent, etc.
