Two teens with a gun try to rob third of his scooter at Readville park, but he's able to wheel away, police say

Boston Police report arresting a 16-year-old and a 17-year-old on charges they showed a gun to try to make a third teen give up his scooter at the Camp Meigs playground in Hyde Park Friday night.

Police say the victim was sitting on a bench at the playground when he was "randomly approached by a group of males" shortly before 10:30 p.m.

Officers were told that the suspects attempted to rob the victim of his scooter, and one suspect displayed a firearm. The victim was able to flee the scene on his scooter, and call 911.

While officers were speaking with the victim, they observed the suspect’s vehicle turn onto Wingate Road [about two blocks away]. Officers were able to conduct a traffic stop, and requested both occupants to exit the vehicle. Officers placed both suspects into handcuffs, and advised them of the reason for the stop.

Police said the teens, too young to have their names released, were charged with being delinquent for attempted armed robbery. The 16-year-old was also charged with assault with a dangerous weapon, police say.
