Boston Police report finding three people they suspect broke into an apartment at 66 Dabney St. in Roxbury's Warren Gardens Sunday night. Two were immediately charged with the break in; the third was taken to a local hospital with a gunshot wound to the back, police say.
Police got a call shortly before 10 p.m. from a woman that three men had broken into her first-floor apartment; she reported she was calling from her bedroom, where she was hiding. According to police:
Upon arrival, officers observed two individuals standing in the side yard of 98 Dabney Street wearing masks and holding a black duffle bag.
As officers exited their cruiser to further investigate, the individuals began to flee in a full sprint and a foot pursuit ensued. Officers were able to apprehend one suspect in the area of 14 Circuit Street, and a second suspect in the area of 61 Walnut Avenue.
Officers began to canvass the area and located a person shot on the staircase adjacent to 98 Dabney Street. The victim was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Officers were able to speak with the victim, and conducted a protective sweep of the building. The victim provided officers with Ring camera footage, which depicted three individuals at her front door. One of the suspects was seen kicking the front door and all three suspects made entry into the residence. Officers located a discarded Glock magazine capable of holding thirty rounds in front of 66 Dabney Street.
Don'Quell Mayes, 23, of Stoughton, was charged with breaking and entering in the nighttime, possession of a Class A drug and possesison of a Class B drug, police say. Daquan Flowers, 24, of Boston, was charged with breaking and entering in the nighttime, police say. Police did not identify the man shot in the back, but say he is under police guard at the hospital.
