Boston Police report they are hunting a man they say tried to stick up the customer-service desk at the Stop & Shop at 1620 Tremont St. around noon today.
Police say the man walked up to the counter and gave a worker a note saying he wanted money and that he had a gun. But the employee refused to hand over any cash and the man fled the store, police say. He did not actually show a gun, but if he is caught, he can still be charged with attempted armed robbery.
If he looks familiar, contact detectives at 617-343-4275 or the anonymous tip line by calling 800-494-TIPS or by texting TIP to CRIME (27463).
