Giant white fish of Jamaica Pond

As I walked around Jamaica Pond this morning, I spotted the Leviathan: The fabled giant white carp of Jamaica Pond. It moved at a stately pace along the bank (near that weird bench you can't actually sit on) before slowly turning and moving into deeper water.

The Neponset River Watershed Association tweets that smelt were spotted yesterday in Quincy's Gulliver Creek, heading up the Neponset on their annual spawning run. Like the alewife, the smelt are anadromous, which means they live in the ocean but return to fresh water to spawn.
