Don't poke the Keytar Bear

Boston Reddit summarizes a punching match between Keytar Bear, a woman and the woman's boyfriend on Boylston Street near the Apple Store Monday afternoon.
Not long after, BPD put out a BOLO for a man "wearing a teddy-bear outfit." But he was performing at Park Street yesterday evening.

which may be useful to the victim or the police later. I'm 5'4" so I'm not going to try to break up a fight between people much bigger than me....

Not that it's any excuse. But he has been harrassed more than his fair share of times in the not-so-distant past. Can we really be surprised he snapped?

Correct. There is no excuse for punching anyone. However, it is more cowardly for a man to punch a woman since typically, based on the realities of anatomy, a man is stronger than a woman. Furthermore, the witness stated that keytar bear accidentally hit the woman first and refused to apologize. Keytar bear initiated the physical contact.

Do we even know what happened?
Keytar is a major douche target. Unless there is video or witnesses, I'm willing to entertain the possibility that he snapped, and also the possibility that he didn't start it and simply defended himself.
It sounds like a combination of the two, really. Was attacked, snapped.
As for the "hit a woman" stuff: bullshit. The gender of the assailant is irrelevant. The guy is smaller than the average adult female. If he was attacked by anybod of any gender or some douchebag was trying to rob him, he has a right to defend himself.
Seriously folks;
can't touch a woman? I'm sorry, this guy has been beaten up, robbed, and even stabbed, while playing music for people, in a sweaty bear suit.
If he was defending himself I'd say that his response was acceptable, if he was picking a fight, or throwing the first punch, then it would be a whole different story.

It's a guy.. saw him set up one day when I finally had some cash in my wallet to give him and spent a few minutes talking to him.

We saw him take off his costume at the end of a long set in Davis Square, and talked to him for a few minutes. He seemed like a really nice guy, too.

Supposedly the crack head was beating his mother and he stepped in. I'm not for violence in any form but if some one was beating my mother then yes I would try and throw several punches.

that girl hit ktb mom first
that girl hit ktb mom first due to the girl who was clearly on drugs kept pacing back and forth yellng at KTB because he wouldn't give her money. His mom told he she needed to move on. then the girl walked up and slapped his mom for no reason. Mom jumped up an KTB pushed the girl away from his mom. Then she went to hit KTB and he lifted the Keytar to block her from hitting him. the mom went to load the car so they could relocate. Then this trash girl walks up and hits his mom again. That is when the mom went after her and pinned her and kicked her ass then the girls boyfriend came and grabbed KTB moms hair so now it was 2 of them on her and well KTB put an end to it. Note this girl already had 2 black eyes and was saying a dude hit her and broke her face up. Then she was yelling that she was gonna take all his money. KTB was in the right and let me say him and his mom can throw down.

What is going on with Keytar Bear? Is he traumatized and lashing out after being assaulted by Hurdy Gurdy man? Is there more than one Keytar Bear? Is there more to this story than meets the eye?

So far the only account I've seen is the one from Reddit and to say that I find it less that credible would be a bit of an understatement....Adam notes a BOLO, bot not where that info came from.
Going to wait for more info on this one before I make any judgements...

Not sure why people are going after Keytar Bear for hitting a woman. Equal rights, equal fights - you assault someone on the street, you should expect them to hit back, regardless of your own gender, strength, ability, etc. I don't see any reason why, based on the accounts I've heard, Keytar Bear didn't have every right to flatten his assailant.
