Wood duck at Leverett Pond in Jamaica Plain

Mary Ellen says it looked like she caught a wood duck in mid-sneeze the other day on the Jamaica Plain side of Leverett Pond.

Jamaica Pond can be a good

Jamaica Pond can be a good place to see ducks in the winter - I've seen scaup and bufflehead there, though for some reason Fresh Pond seems to be better.

Thanks to this post, I decided to check out Leverett Pond this morning. Excellent birding! Here's what we saw: Great Blue Heron, Wood Ducks, Ruddy Duck, Hooded Mergansers, Red-breasted Merganser, American Coot and a Ring-Necked Duck. Wonderful way to spend a Sunday morning.
