Candidates for the District 2 (South Boston, South End, Chinatown, Downtown, Bay Village) seat now held by Bill Linehan get a chance to explain why they should succeed him at a forum Wednesday evening.
The forum, sponsored by the Boston Ward 4 Democratic Committee, Ellis South End Neighborhood Association, South End Forum and the South End News, starts at 6:30 p.m. at the Calderwood Pavilion at the Boston Center for the Arts, 527 Tremont Street). Sue O’Connell, co-publisher of the South End News and Bay Windows and host of NECN’s The Take with Sue O'Connell, will moderate.

If you accept that the members of the City Council serve for 2 years, then run again, none of the members of the next City Council will have anything to do with redistricting. Those elected in 2021, on the other hand, will have a lot to do with the topic (unless they have the numbers in 2021 and the elected council at the time gets it done quickly, but I don't believe that was the case a with the last redistrictings)

I believe that redistricting can only be done every 10 years, and that by statute? I could be wrong.
Wards and Precincts are added to make up City Council Districts, yes, but they also impact the population boundaries for state representatives and state senators, so it does not impact just the city councilors.
