The Cambridge Fire Department reports a search of the Charles River for a swimmer in trouble ended this afternoon with the recovery of a man's body.

I am not sure if there are more drownings this year or if more are actually being reported. In any case, it is truly heartbreaking to see. A close friend drowned at a group gathering we were attending many years ago when I was a teenager, and I pray for the families of those lost and those who witnessed the tragedy. My heart still aches….

It is unfortunate reminder that even in a narrow body of water things like that will happen. Very sad.
