Roxbury man charged with lunchtime shooting outside Randolph Wendy's

A Roxbury man already facing Boston gun charges was arrested on charges he repeatedly shot somebody outside the Wendy's, 14 Condlin Dr. in Randolph shortly before noon yesterday, Randolph Police report.
Marlon Raymond, 19, was charged with, among other things, armed assault with intent to murder, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a dwelling, unlawful possession of a firearm, improper storage of a large-capacity firearm and possession of a knife with a blade longer than 2 1/2 inches, police say.
Police say the victim, a 20-year-old Randolph man, was taken to a local hospital. Police say "Raymond and the victim are known to each other."
Police say they nabbed Raymond Wednesday evening when he returned to the wooded area where he had dropped his gun, a magazine and a bandana as he fled from the shooting.
Boston Police arrested Raymond in front of the B-3 police station at Blue Hill Avenue and Morton Street last November after he allegedly ran a red light and slammed into another vehicle, giving himself a head injury and police a reason to conduct an inventory search of what was left of his car, during which they say they found "a Charter Arms .38 Special loaded with ammunition," which Raymond couldn't legally possess because he was just 18.

Finding him in possession of an illegal firearm. Gettin so sick of this.
Agendas
There are other agendas at play that go beyond current public safety. Our elected officials do not care about public safety.
Did he get a second chance
Or was he merely afforded his Constitutional rights, having been accused of a crime in November but not yet faced trial?

What are the odds that someone that gets caught with an illegal guns ends up murdering or shooting someone in the near future? I bet it’s really high.
This can't stand.
Blanket pre-trial detention solely because "cops say a person had a gun without a firearms license" is a terrible idea. There need to be actual reasons - while I'm not an expert, this article does a pretty good job summarizing when it can be done. The slope gets awfully slick if the legal burden was "charge is X, therefore you are detained" - after all, cops are humans & lie sometimes, like all of us. There needs to be a reason that the state makes a compelling case for, not just mails it in.

Never said that, Bob. I am opposed to letting dangerous people back into society until they’ve proven their innocence. Illegal fire arms should be up there with the worst offenses.

You bet
but do you know? I'm all for methodically collected data. Even so, it does not override the legal principle of the presumption of innocence for the accused, nor does it allow for the deprivation of the right of due process.
Any sort of jump from "bad people do bad things and you are accused of doing a bad thing" to automatically depriving citizens of their rights is an affront to the bedrock of our legal system that our American society is based upon. It is not perfect, it is unlikely to ever be completely perfect, but the founders knew that too.
You claim I'm defending something, what exactly am I defending other than the Constitution of the United States of America? You claim this individual previously was caught with an unlawful firearm, that may be true, but as best as I can tell such fact has not been proven beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law. That's the legal standard that all criminal cases are held to in our country.
I don't care for people unlawfully carrying firearms and shooting people in parking lots, but I also don't care for people disregarding core principles that form our nation.

Do you not support stout gun laws? Illegal guns have no place in society and lead to what we’re witnessing here.
I’m defending the same legal principles
that defend all of us against unfair prosecution and punishment. Unless you are advocating for the repeal of the 5th and 14th Amendments, I just don’t see what you want to have happened with him to stand in our legal system.
I’ve said it already, as far as I can tell, the original crime he’s accused of has not gone to trial yet, so the allegation has neither been proven nor disproven and therefore our legal system must afford him the presumption of innocence. We can revisit this when the trial occurs, I’d be happy to. If he’s found guilty, by all means, hold him accountable consistently with what others who have committed similar crimes have been held.
I’m absolutely not suggesting we repeal either the
5th or 14th amendment. What I am advocating for is that if you’re caught with an illegal firearm, you are not released back into society until you’re proven innocent. Similar to what happens if you’re accused of murder.
Do you know if he posted bail? If so, I’d love to know what it was set at.
We really need a zero tolerance approach for illegal firearms, IMO.

The only possible evidence that his bail was set too low would have been if he hadn’t shown up for trial.
