Another possible candidate for Coppinger's old seat; candidate forum set for Thursday
Celia Segal of Jamaica Plain has filed papers with the state for a possible run in the Democratic primary in May to replace Ed Coppinger, who recently resigned from the 10th Suffolk seat.
Segal, currently associate director of pharmaceutical pricing and policy at the state Health Policy Commission, joins Robert Orthman of Roslindale and William MacGregor of West Roxbury as possible candidates in the May 2 primary. The winner would face a Republican, if there is one, in the May 30 election. David Giordano of West Roxbury and Garrett Casey of Jamaica Plain, who had filed papers, have since told the state they are not running.
JP Progressives will hold a candidates forum at 7 p.m. on Thursday at the First Baptist Church, 633 Centre St. in Jamaica Plain.
Although the district is mainly West Roxbury, it does include parts of Roslindale, Jamaica Plain and South Brookline.
