Ron's Gourmet Ice Cream and Bowling and maybe one day Beer

Ron's Gourmet Ice Cream and Bowling, 1231 Hyde Park Ave. in Hyde Park, is seeking a beer and wine license.

The ice cream parlor and candlepin emporium, with 40 seats, is scheduled to make its case at a hearing before the Boston Licensing Board on Wednesday. Board hearings start at 10 a.m., Ron's is 20th on the list.

Even if the board deems Ron's a worthy candidate for a license, the board likely will not have a license to actually grant, since the state legislature consistently refuses to increase the number of licenses Boston has despite a shortage that has seen beer-and-wine licenses go for six figures on the open market.
