At-large Boston city councilors Ruthzee Louijeune and Julia Mejia will join with the Massachusetts Immigrant and Refugee Advocacy Coalition and the ACLU tomorrow to support protections for immigrant communities.
The rally starts at 11 a.m. in front of City Hall.
In a statement, Louijeune said:
In Boston, we believe in dignity, justice, and the power of standing together, and will do just that when our immigrant communities are under attack. Boston is one of the safest big cities in the country specifically because we will not allow political intimidation to dictate how we care for our neighbors.
Mejia added:
Boston has long stood on the right side of history when it comes to protecting immigrant communities, and we’re not backing down now We will not allow fear-mongering and "flood the zone" tactics to scare us into silence or distract us from our work.
Wu is scheduled for a 10 a.m. appearance before the House Committee on Oversight - two of whose members will need no convincing that Boston isn't a raging hellhole of evil dark-skinned immigrants going after the white women: Ayanna Pressley and Steve Lynch.
