FasterHorses recounts what happened as he was panting on the pathway following a particularly hard run around Jamaica Pond yesterday:
A girl (walking) who I had passed about 50 yards back caught up to me. She signaled for me to take off my headphones and said, "I don't know who you are, but I just wanted to say that you're awesome and I want to give you a high-five. I always want a high-five when I run, so here's a high-five."

Take that, Harvard!
And Atlanta girl said Bostonians aren't friendly.
there is a
<1% chance she is actually from the boston..
"the Boston"
Why on earth would a non-Bostonian be hanging around Jamaica Pond on a Monday afternoon?
transplants
are not from boston but also live here, so they might be hanging around all sorts of places. my neighbor is from wyoming.
"non-Bostonian"
idk if I consider an smfa student from Connecticut whose parents pay for her apartment a Bostonian... and also, do people still correct others grammar on the internet? that's so 2002
Wait.
So you literally have to have been born in Boston to be a Bostonian? I thought that rule only applied to islands and penal colonies.
And it's not grammar. That was just a straight-up stupid error.
Cranky people are cranky
Yeah, I've now lived here longer than anywhere else, I own a home, I pay taxes, I vote for the mayor, our daughter has only ever gone to Boston public schools, but no, I'm not a Bostonian. I might still vote for Pressley and Wu, though. Us outsiders need to stick together.
Well
I'm not allowed to call myself an islander because the only OBGYN on Martha's Vineyard was on vacation when my mother went into labor and I was born on the Cape. And although I've lived my entire adult life in Boston, apparently I don't count as from here either.
I'M A TOWNIE WITHOUT A TOWN, ADAM!
Aaa maybe
Because JP is now mostly ultra liberals from out of state...
When your state is the size of a Western County
That ain't hard.
Ok?
Middlesex County has more people than Wyoming or Alaska. There, now I've cited an irrelevant fact too!
Not entirely irrelevant
The point is that it isn't hard to be from "out of state" when you live in a state that you can bike across in a single day from nearly any direction.
Well, some people who were
Well, some people who were not born and raised in Boston have been known to move to Boston for school, or work, or whatever. Some of these "transplants" have even been known to reside in JP.
so by your logic
every rude person you meet is born and raised in Boston but every nice person is a transplant???
Dudes , you are wearing the
Dudes , you are wearing the high five out!
