Watch some video of Old South Church Minister Nancy Taylor and Associate Minister Anthony Livolsi ringing the church bells after the Supreme Court released its decision overturning the federal Defense of Marriage Act.
The ruling means, among other things, that same-sex couples in Massachusetts are now eligible for the same federal benefits as other married couples.
Down at City Hall, city workers raised a Pride flag.

We must now make all efforts to assure that gay couples can exercise their Second Amendment rights!

One of the biggest issues was that comprehensive immigration reform would come apart over providing equal rights to same-sex married couples in the context of US immigration law. This effectively ends the need to even visit that in the bill, because the federal government can no longer discriminate. Period.

The senate's job can't get any easier. They don't even bother to read the bills they vote on. Nothing is debated on the open floor. All bills are written by gangs of self-interested assholes behind hermetically sealed doors so that the public has no idea what is conspiring against them until well after the legislation is passed.

That's my church. Jesus didn't turn people away. Why would we? In fact our congregation was formed in 1669 when our founders decided we needed to be more welcoming.
