MBTA says Red Line will be back to normal for the start of service on Tuesday

Working on wires at Broadway station

They've been working on the wires, all the livelong day. Photo by MBTA.

The T announced tonight that workers will have all the damage from Saturday's third-rail and cable fire at Broadway fixed by early tomorrow morning:

Regular Red Line service will resume at start of service tomorrow. We thank you for your patience as we dealt with this issue.

This man is apparently made of the electricity that will get the Red Line working again.

Most of that cable looks like 50 and 100 pair phone cable. Does the T use it for signaling? Some of the other cables on the right look like they could be to power lighting or signals. I imagine the cabling for the 3rd rail is bigger. What a bummer to have all those cables bundled together so one burning damages the others...

So expect the usual delays?

No updates from Globe or Herald. God they suck. Metro reporter and editor for both papers should be fired. No excuse.
