Competing human billboards at Holy Name School in West Roxbury this morning. Polls are open until 8 p.m.
Some early reports suggest heavy turnout even here in Massachusetts. Jessica reports an hour-wait at her Somerville polling place. Slydon reports "more people voting in Egleston Square than I've ever seen at midterms."

Harvard-Kent in Charlestown
Harvard-Kent in Charlestown had a decent line for precinct 2 and no line (but full booths) for precinct 4 at around 7:45. About half to 3/4ths the turnout I saw around that time for 2016.

The Bates was packed this morning just after 7
I went first thing with the brand new voter in our house and there was a line outside. Poll workers were keeping the lines moving and sorted into the two precincts that vote there. The snacks and coffee stand takes credit cards and Venmo now!

I wonder if it's too late for us to switch our polling place to the Bates. I never carry cash anymore.
Busy in West Roxbury
No real lines, but a strong steady flow. Had to wait a moment to put my ballot through the scanner.
Speaking of the ballot: Who the hell designs the layout of those things? They are not intuitive (and they NEVER are.) My ballot was two pages. If you need two pages, then start the ballot initiatives at the top of the second sheet, not wedged-in on the third column of the first page. And the response bubbles for the initiatives are never clearly visible; they are always way off to the side near the timing marks of the form. It's a sin that some not-insignificant percentage of people miss questions or candidates due to the poor ballot layout.

at the Manning School, between 7 and 9. By about 9, 240 people had voted.
Ward 4 Precinct 8
Symphony/NEU/South End area-at 10:15 am I was the 349th person to feed my ballot into the counter, more than twice the previous high number at roughly the same time. No line but a steady stream kept all the kiosks full. Best of all, millenials and post millenals showing up - first time I remember so seeing so many young voters.
Galvin Middle School in Wakefield
was fairly busy about 12:45. Moderate lines, but moving well, and lots of voting booths. In and out in under ten minutes.
Went to vote at Revere
Went to vote at Revere Central Fire Station around 8:15 this morning. There were about two people ahead of me in the check in line and just about all of the dozen or so stations except for one or two were occupied.
There was also a line backing up at the check out table.
It turned out there was some issue with the ballot box and a couple of poll workers and the detail officer were fiddling around with it. Supposedly there was a problem with the counting mechanism so one of the poll workers was counting the ballots out loud as the voters were placing the ballots in the box.

Two of three precincts were over 500 voters as of 2PM. According to a poll worker, this was a faster pace than 2016.
