Nazi posters don't last long in East Boston
Phil Haggerty reports he spent the better part of an hour tearing down "the disgusting white nationalist propaganda" that went up last night on Meridian Street and in Maverick Square and Central Square Park.
Mayor Walsh, City Councilor Lydia Edwards, state Rep. Adrian Madaro and state Sen. Joseph Boncore issued a statement this morning:
Boston is strong because of its diversity and the neighborhood of East Boston has been a beacon for immigrants for centuries. Our communities are interconnected, interdependent and our growth as a city relies on a future of mutual, and cross-cultural, admiration, tolerance and respect.
Boston rejects hatred, racism and promotion of white supremacy in all forms. These ideas are toxic to our society and contribute to physical violence, economic disparity and division along lines of race, class, nationality and origin. While we must always uphold a free exchange of ideas, hatred that demeans individuals or groups based on who they are, how they look or where they come from is not welcome in Boston. Those seeking to promote bigotry will always fail in the face of unity that is stronger, lasting and more resilient.

JFC @ that one guy trying so
JFC @ that one guy trying so hard to pretend this isn't white supremacist bullshit.
Right?
One post: I don't see anything wrong in that poster (poster contains Nazi slogan Blood and Soil)
Same dude ten minutes later: I'm not defending them!
The EB neighborhood FB groups
Are pure gold. Often unbelievably depressing to see how some of your neighbors really think, but pure gold in that "you can't hep but chuckle even though it's nothing to laugh about" kind of way, nonetheless. To the point where after the first two got so ridiculous, someone had to make a third one with "No Racists" right in the name.
this is why
This is why I left such groups... got tired of the idiocy that is in my town.
FB Community groups
The only neighborhood group I belong to the FB is Watertown Parents and it's mostly "I need a new nanny/housekeeper" posts or "We're moving out, here's a link to our million dollar listing" so (in my opinion) equally depressing, but in a different way.
Edit: hahaha

So depressing
That families where both parents work might need childcare...and those same families invested money into real estate and now wish to sell. Color me depressed. haha.
It's depressing for me
I'm not sure how long I'll be able to afford to live here, and my kids love the school they go to. But good for you.
His accounts looks fake. Only
His accounts looks fake. Only a few pics, mostly stock photos, no friends. I wonder if the person behind it gets paid in dollars or rubles.
Updated original post
With statement from elected officials.
The real question
What font is that?
What happened to the First Amendment?
What's wrong with asking questions that contradict the conventional wisdom?
Why are Haggerty and Boston city government afraid of these points of view?
Why can't they debate them rationally instead of tearing them down?
Sorry, just trying to beat Roman to the punch.
Maybe don't do that
Why preemptively post somebody else's talking points? Unless you believe them yourself; otherwise goading just isn't a good thing.
But
But he's just so goadable.
But seriously
I posted it because these guys (water-carriers) are so fucking predictable. There's literally no idea so repulsive or thoroughly-discredited that it won't evoke the exact same response every single time.
"I'm just asking whether the earth is flat."
"Why are you afraid of discussing child cannibalism?"
"What about his First Amendment right to use ethnic slurs on national TV?"
If you got a Nazi sitting at
If you got a Nazi sitting at a table, and 11 people talking to him, what you got is a table with a dozen Nazis.
That's why. There's nothing to discuss, unless you also think like that.
You're missing at least one
You're missing at least one straw man and one red herring. Oh and about 6 paragraphs of argument based on those.
Also missing
Protracted assertion that people are threatening you because they are warning you that the people you are defending will not look past your heritage and origins when the pogroms launch.
And the incredulity at being told to unilaterally disarm
despite the seemingly serious "warnings" that the end is nigh.
No joke.
Sentence 1: The pogroms are coming, and you'll be the first to hang.
Sentence 2: Give up your guns because feelings.
Every single time.
That's OK. AOC says the world will end in 11 years and 11 months anyway, so no point in worrying about non-existent ethnic violence.
See Scratchie? THAT's how it
See Scratchie? THAT's how it's done. He makes it look effortless.
I would rather see local
I would rather see local leaders just condemn all signs (regardless of message) attached to public poles using sticky tape. They're litter and a blight and have no place on public property.
I saw a few in Boston Common
Much smaller, but with the same blood and etc. url at the bottom. I tried scraping one off a bench but the rain had pretty much turned them to mush so I didn't bother with the others.
They came back!
Fox 25 is now reporting that these guys apparently came back Friday night to hang more posters, only to run into the police. Three arrests- one for assaulting a cop, two for weapons (knife and brass knuckles). Hope they enjoy their cell until Tuesday.
