American pride of workmanship

The woman who made the video was talking about strange things Americans do, from an Irish perspective. One of them was that Americans tend to make everything about politics.

But yeah, it is kind of dumb that "American Made" plaque is in fact made in China. That should be something immune from politics.

But seriously, almost everything people commonly buy is on the list. Unless you live in a hut and grow your own food, the prices you pay will go up.

They affect a vast number of manufactured products. The increased tariffs are on many different componants as well as finished goods. I work for a company that manufactures componants for furniture, most of our sales are to companies that assemble the goods in US factories. We have lost $130,000 so far in an attempt to avoid passing on the increased costs to our customers and the end-consumers. We've had to rethink that strategy, since we've lost what is equal to about 3 salaries in half a year. Consumer prices will continue to rise. Demand will continue to fall. And the American jobs that exisit- at both the companies that design and import goods manufactured in China and the companies that use them as components in American-assembled products, will suffer.

Please remember that most of these items already had a tariff on them, generally 8-14% for the items I deal with. So now the tariff on them is 32%-39%.
