Police vow tight cordon around white-supremacist parade; bats, clubs, sticks and propane tanks all banned

Boston Police announce tight security measures to ensure none of the white supremacists seeking publicity by marching through Boston tomorrow get to act like armed toddlers.

The Department has a comprehensive operational plan in place. While details of this plan are not for public release, those in attendance at the event can expect a large police presence of both uniformed and undercover officers. The Department will be deploying fixed video cameras and mobile video support teams to assist with keeping the event safe for all who attend.

Police issued a long list of items that will be seized on sight or which will result in their owners being turned away from the alleged parade route down Boylston Street and Tremont Street, including both items that are obviously weapons, such as guns, knives and sharpened sticks, tents, wagons, coolers, dogs, bicycles and "any athletic equipment or other item which could be used as a weapon."

Also banned: Parking along the parade route.

A look at some of the event's organizers.

BPD adds:

The Boston Police Department expects all who will be attending events to act respectfully and responsibly. The Department intends to provide a safe and peaceful opportunity for people to exercise their Constitutional rights. Violence or property damage of any kind will not be tolerated. Anyone engaging in illegal behavior is subject to arrest and prosecution to the fullest extent of the law.

Interesting to see the BPD has a solid security plan after the flaccid edgelords behind this troll event spent the last few days tweeting desperately about how the big meanies at BPD and FBI were denying their rights and collaborating with antifa (https://twitter.com/SuperHappyFunA/status/1166661155181318144) a big part of their poutrage yesterday was asking "Why is Marty encouraging violence against us?"

yes, this is correct. I'm trying to be "big mind" about this. the most generous way of looking at this, I think, is that these man babies, inspired by their perception of progressive parades and marches in society, had their memories jogged, and with that they almost recalled something from middle school civics about Constitutional rights. i'm trying for the moment to ignore that their minds are actually hijacked by Russian internet spooks who played them, and all of us in America, like bassoons. the dark side of this will either come full out or not, but it doesn't make a lot of sense to be unduly intolerant. for example, they are not so far as I can tell marching to support keeping children in cages. and it's too muddy intellectually to attribute that to them just because they are white--even though I get the "system" that they are unconsciously defending.

part of me thinks there is/has long been something terribly wrong with white people. another part of me is trying to see these man babies as having lived almost entirely without self-esteem, and perhaps, if they can have their stupid little march without incident, they will, just by a millimeter, move closer to joining the human race.

by the way, it still is probably true that if more of the white troglodytes had satisfying jobs, they would not be bothering with being a pain in our asses trying to mean something.

Alas, I have better things to do than to go to the protest and counter protest. I don't know what the things are, yet, but suffice to say they will be better.

This is good BPD policy but it should have been emphasized before the violence surrounding last weekend's Boston’s Caribbean Carnival Parade, not this weekend's Straight Pride march where the only violence, if any, will come from far-left agitators. It's sad that even ultra-liberal Cambridge is canceling what was supposed to be the upcoming 26th annual Cambridge Carnival International due to the mayhem that was allowed to occur in Boston.

I mean he's not wrong in saying that it would have been good to have put out a similar statement before the Caribbean Festival/Parade given its known history of violence by some of the attendees surrounding it.

However, he went back to being wrong by mouthing off about "far-left" activists being the assured violent ones this weekend.

...if antifa shows up they will go all Mother Theresa and not try to hit people with bicycle locks? Well, let's wait and see.

If you've got an issue with Nazi agitators being hit with bike locks, you're part of the problem.

up

I have more than a bit of a problem with anyone getting hit with bike locks.

That is a ridiculously stupid comment. And potentially dangerous. Don't encourage the morons on EITHER side.

Don't stoop to their level.

up

Fascism comes to the forefront of a society when it's allowed to do so by a lack of pushback. So indifference to fascism is tantamount to acceptance of fascism. "Both sides are morons" may seem like a neutral statement on its face, but it is not.

Or just a Russian troll.

Inciting violence actually pushes the limits of the first amendment. I'll let a legal eagle weigh in on whether what you said is even protected speech. Perhaps you should be wary a knock on your door.

In any case, this is not a healthy dialogue.

Your definition of sarcasm must be different than mine because you come across as a "both sides" type in your comments. You don't sound at all facetious.

up

Thought u were referring to our other thread.

If I understand the reference, both sides is correct. But not "good people" on both sides. Morons on both sides. And if people start smashing others in the head, that's beyond moronic. It's criminal.

Anti-fascists are just as bad as fascists is the worst take and flat out wrong. Fuck Proud Boys, Milo, the alt-right, etc. Don't enable or give credence to them.

up
Voting closed 0

If they start bashing people in the head with bike locks.

Sorry you flunked civil liberties class. Just because you disagree with someone doesn't mean you are entitled to start bashing people in the head.

Is there something wrong with you?

up
Voting closed 0

You're asking if something is wrong with me while you excuse the behavior of fascists but not those who push back against them? Bike lock justice isn't nearly as rampant as you're trying to make out. Pure projection, as I originally said. Go look up Proud Boys pending trial or sentencing vs. Anti-fascists and get back to me. Not to mention, Anti-fascists are a reactionary group. But for the existence of fascist characters like the Proud Boys, Richard Spencer, and so on, the group wouldn't even exist.

But, sure, play your dumb "both sides" bit that just enables them. Or, quit the ruse and just join them. Me? I'm not going to worry about being hit by a bike lock, because I'm not a fascist, nor do I support or defend them! Pretty simple!

up
Voting closed 0

"If you've got an issue with Nazi agitators being hit with bike locks, you're part of the problem."

Well, considering it's anything from aggravated assault to attemped murder to actual homicide, I don't think an internet tough guy sitting in mom's basement encouraging this type of action is a good idea. First, your definition of a Nazi is probably rather, um, progressive, second, you don't pay the price.

Go back to sleep, tired one. This ain't fucking Portland.

Just heard General Mattis on TV talking about how we can split this country in two if we are not careful. I agree 100%. And much of the commentary out here promoting bike locks as a solution and more is part of the problem - not part of the solution.

1) are you Roman under another handle?

2) at any rate, you guys have gotten way more than the recommended mileage out of the bike locks incident. it's almost like there isn't much material for you to pull from vis-à-vis "far-left" violence.

"1) are you Roman under another handle?"

No. If indeed you're addressing me, not sure, long comment thread. But about bike locks, are you referring to the Berkeley 'professor' Eric Clanton or the other hooded savages that get away with it because, well, hoods.
Portland is becoming a train wreck. When Andy Ngo (gay Asian journalist) got assaulted, it made news. What made much less news was the innocent tourist that had his head opened up in a violent assault by the antifa thugs in a total surprise (no surprise there, cowards) attack.

Thirty four people (maybe) arrested on Saturday. Were they all leftists? Just proof the the BPD is a fascist organization? Or rather proof that the little darlings are out of hand and need some pushback from civilized society.

up

I don’t see the correlation between white supremacy and the straight pride parade. Does the fact they are organizing a parade that you disagree with make them white nationalists? Or is the fact they are Caucasian simply enough to tag them as racists white supremacists? I’m not clear.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Proud_Boys

Which are who Anti-Fascists typically engage with, as they Proud Boys are essentially branded fascists.

Proud Boys emerged as part of the alt-right, but in early 2017, McInnes began distancing himself from the alt-right, saying the alt-right's focus is race while his focus is what he defines as "Western values".

(my emphasis added).

Emphasis there because that's double-talk for white people.

While the group claims it does not support white supremacist views,

surejan.gif

its members often participate in racist rallies, events, and organizations.

e.g. "Straight Pride", etc.

I'm sure you knew all of this already but hopefully this is useful to someone else reading. Just do a Ctrl+F for "white sup" and you'll come up with nearly twenty results, most of them being in citations section from news coverage.

The correlation between this and the alt-right movement at large is as clear as day.

up

It seems like the fact that they are white nationalists makes them white nationalists. The fact that they are organizing a straight pride parade suggests that they might be trying to pass off a white nationalist parade as something else.

I’m with you and I completely think it’s a coincidence that they all have shaved heads. /snark

Literally no cop wants to work this and they are forcing all of us to be there - every last cop. It wouldn’t hurt the city to deny a permit or two once in a while, especially this one organized by these angry virgins.

I hope that they all know tomorrow when we are out there that: all of us hate them, they ruined our Labor Day weekend and we all know that this is the only way these guys could get anyone, especially women, to pay them any attention. Fuck these guys.

Actually, it would. The taxpayers have been down this road before. As a Boston cop, you must know exactly what I'm talking about.
Serious question...are the police on overtime (mandatory or whatever) or is it all paid detail, outside rate?

up

This is all forced overtime. They cancelled scheduled days off. So yeah, these assholes are all costing taxpayers a lot of money.

As I was sitting on a beach enjoying a totally non-alcoholic drink (...) I was in a discussion with someone that would know. I brought the subject up and was told in no uncertain terms that there would be a very heavy police presence.
When I got in last night, I went online. I guess the Mayor didn't want any shenanigans like Portland has every weekend. I was impressed by the police presence.

Enjoy Labor Day. You guys earned it.

PS: As a taxpayer, I consider it money well spent.

People like you actually want to turn Boston into another Portland, where people, including innocent bystanders, get beat on by antifa assholes.
It won't happen here, I hope. Saner minds should prevail. As much as it upsets your little lefty fantasies, they have a right to march, Milo has a right to be there and the only thing you can do about it is to invoke violence. Fine. I wish you the best of luck. See you on channel 5 news.
