MassLive.com reports the protesters wouldn't move from Gov. Baker's office and were arrested on trespassing charges.

So let's understand this
The kids that can't even make bail want someone else to foot the bill for rapid conversion to renewables AND bail them out of jail.
Let me guess;
Mummy and daddy cart them around to soccer practice in an SUV
Mummy and daddy fly them all over the world on nice vacations
Mummy and daddy heat their McMansion home with oil and gas
Mummy and daddy have bought them all kinds of plastic playthings
Mummy and daddy pay their uber/lyft bills
They live in mummy and daddy's basement unless of course mummy and daddy subsidize their rent
Etc.
And finally, they plan to have a couple of their own kids, or already do, immediately doubling their carbon footprint.
Can somebody inform them that climate change begins at home? Why aren't you yelling at mummy and daddy instead of strangers at the state house?
And if we are wasting money putting them into and getting them out of jail, there is less money to spend on important stuff like converting to renewables.

This is so far from the truth that it makes you look ridiculous. Sources of greenhouse gases:
Transportation: 29%
Production of electricity: 28% (only 37% of that electricity is used in homes; 63% is used in business and industry.)
Industry: 22%
Commercial and residential: 12%
Agriculture: 9%
If every home got to a zero-carbon output, it would reduce greenhouse gases, but the vast majority of emissions are outside the home. Inform yourself, before you attempt to tell other people what to think. Your making shit up about people you know nothing about also makes you look like an idiot.

When was the last time that you were able to choose a ten hour train ride over a five hour flight? The heating system type in your rental unit? To take transit at 3am instead of a "rideshare" vehicle or taxi? How your electricity is generated?
Industry drives a lot of what we consider to be "choices".

That "industry" doesn't live in a vacuum - it's there to serve people who live in homes. That soccer ball you kick around, the lunch you ate at the restaurant, the cup you drink from, the chair you sit at etc. that are made in "industries" all feeds back into this system designed to serve people that live in homes. You go to an office to work - to finance your home. You go to a retail shop to get your clothes (which you keep at home). The point is not the "home" - it's the "output" of the home - which is PEOPLE. Less consumption, fewer people, fewer homes = less carbon output.
As for the people I know nothing about, you are right, I don't know these specific people - do a survey of these protesters though - and I'll bet you $100 these are mostly privileged kids from the burbs whose carbon footprints are probably even larger than mine.

If the state rep from JP and others invited them in to the house how can they be arrested for trespassing?The charges will be dismissed and the state police will take their weekly beating when the protestors complain of excessive force.

I'm glad the young people are taking up the cause
of protecting the environment. Just like the generations before them have done. (Whatever happened to all the hippies who marched for peace and the environment in decades past?) However, I would be more inclined to take them seriously if they were to give up their cell phones and computers which are charged by fossil fuel generated electricity. This would show me they are truly serious about protecting the environment.

You don't know this. Some of us have solar panels on our roofs, and don't use any fossil-fuel-generated electricity. Instead of concern-trolling about the imagined transgressions of others, why don't you make some effort to reduce your own impact? If you did that, I'd be more inclined to take you seriously.

Then shipping them to your home, installing them, maintaining them, removing them, disposing of them and we'll ignore the r&d that went onto that the last 50 years too.

The break-even point
on pure CO2 emissions for a solar installation on a house is between 9 and 12 months, depending on how scrupulous you are about about sourcing your panels from somewhere that favors carbon-heavy reclamation of silicon tetrachloride. Meanwhile, modern panels are generally rated for 20-30 years, and recycling of photovoltaics is an emerging industry that will most likely have its feet under it in 10 years, by which time sea levels will only risen by a foot or so, no doubt sparing your suburban abode.
Any other idiotic, bad-faith, easily-googleable arguments you’d like to add to the conversation, or are you content to let FISH carry the intellectual torch for you?

Or rather how many? How many panels do you have? I have 26 and am *still* sending in at least hundred dollars a month to Eversource.. along with 70 bucks a month to cover solar "delivery" costs. My house is 100 percent LED lighting and gas for all appliances.

IDK why you're still sending money to Eversource. A/C? Antique refrigerator and other electric appliances? As for the delivery charges, do you lease the panels? I always thought that was a mistake. They get all the SREC money, and you wind up paying them multiples of what it would cost you to buy the panels and have them put up. I own my 24 panels, and they paid for themselves years ago. I also have all LED lights and gas, which is my big monthly bill. I'm working on replacing some of the gas appliances with electrics.

Thanks for the info, P. I have been meaning to check into this for three years now. It seems I am averaging 225khw a month from Eversource and 200kwh a month from Tesla. Tesla charging .13 a kwh and nothing more. Eversource charging .21 total a kwh. It is a break, not epic but I figured there should be more generating going on. Next step is to check performance.
Another benefit of owning
Another benefit of owning the panels is that the installers provide me a website that shows how the array is performing - today, and for past periods. 6.6 mWh this year. Don't know if all installers provide that service, but Sunlight Solar does. It's saved me a bunch of money when there was a problem (which they fixed for no charge).
Before I had the array installed, I went over a couple years' worth of electric bills, and figured that 5.5 kW would make slightly more than we were using, so that's the size I bought. It gives me a net-metered positive balance with the electric company all year, until snow covers the panels, when I start to use up the balance. Some years, I have to give them some money, but it's a small fraction of what the SREC program gives me.

Youngsters may not recall when the industry was named "Global Warming," a number of these protests were scheduled in Washington only to be canceled by extreme cold and snow. Research vessels sent to the Arctic to document the warming waters were frozen in place and needed to be rescued. Hence the rebranding to Climate Change that covers any modern weather "extreme." The best part is that if all C02 were eliminated today and most quality of life destroyed, global temperatures might be reduced by less than one degree Celsius. Let's build a better furnace and air conditioner before attempting to tame a climate that is cyclical by its very nature. As a side note, great job by the Troopers assigned to the State House, normally a one-step away from retirement post.
