People stood in front of or next to post offices in West Roxbury, Roslindale and elsewhere today to support the Postal Service and its workers.
In West Roxbury, participants in the protest organized by Progressive West Roxbury/Roslindale stood in front of the neighboring Brigham and Women's health clinic:

Salem people stayed out in the thunderstorm that rolled through around noon. Postal workers were beeping in support.

Per the USPS and reported by the WashPost.
"The announcement also leaves unresolved DeJoy’s plans for the agency’s long-term finances. The Postal Service has $15 billion in the bank, plus a $10 billion loan from an early round of coronavirus relief as a backstop. That’s more cash on hand than it had at the start of the pandemic, when the agency forecast it would run out of money in October."
They're fully funded through 2021 and desperately need restructuring for long term sustainability.

Sustainability? Wake me up

Sustainability? Wake me up when the military is sustainable without Congressional appropriations. They are both organizations our founders had in mind when they formed our federal government.
And does the Postal Service need money? Well, they were asking for it back in April and the President had opinions back then, as he had long before this year, about the Postal Service.

Obama was defending having private health insurance companies handle health care because they are good at it, much like how private shippers do a better job than the USPS.
You suggesting privatizing the postal service, Brian?
That's not quite the point

That's not quite the point Obama was making when he said that. Nor were his comments related to any specific issue or discussion about the Postal Service, but rather it was about the ACA.
I'm just merely ensuring that when someone takes a single, small quotation as proof of their position, we are able to understand in what context the statement was actually made.

That said, the issues with the Postal Service are more than 4 years old. That the previous resident of the White House chose them as the example of trusting the private sector versus the public sector, and the words he chose, is telling.
One major difference

The military does not compete with, or serve, private firms; it serves the US population as a whole. However, the post office does: Amazon and many other retailers use it to send packages, presumably because USPS offers a better or cheaper service than UPS or FedEx.
Apples and oranges comparison here.

Maine Farmers Report Shipments of Dead Chicks Arriving Amid USPS Delays
The Postal Service has been delivering live chicks reliably since 1918. Now, thanks to Trump's Postmaster General DeJoy, it's delivering dead ones.
Unfortunately...

The mail sorting machine thing

No, seriously, how the (expletive) does that work in reality? Someone please tell me what steps I'm missing, or what flaws exist in my logic:
- DeJoy shows up at mail facility and orders machine out of service
- Worker takes machine out of service
- DeJoy leaves building
- DeJoy doesn't return, because he has his own office somewhere else
- Worker returns machine to service after DeJoy leaves, and DeJoy never finds out about it, because nobody at the facility dimes the worker out, the machine isn't a smart device, and postal customers don't complain about satisfactory service
Short of staffing a mail processing facility with federal marshals, what is this jerkoff trying to pull? And if I were a federal marshal, and the boss told me "Go stand guard at a mail facility and make sure the workers sabotage the mail", I'd toss my badge in the garbage.
I don't *want* to be this much smarter than everyone else, because that's no good for society, but here we are with this sham of a presidency.
Oh come on

Every tyrant is enthusiastically supported by legions of worshipful, boot-licking underlings. You seriously think there would be no Trump allies in the local PO to dime out the local supervisor for defying DeJoy?
