Shortly before 1 p.m., Sara Mak and a companion surveyed the scene at the State House (then reconnoitered the surrounding area).

Compare to the situation on Sunday, when Boston Police shut down the streets around the State House.

I have no objection to the medical helicopters at MGH, nor to any State Police copters reasonably required for security, but every time the legislature is debating something or the Governor is making some pronouncement, does it really deepen any viewer’s understanding of the issues fir the TV stations to show live aerial footage of the State House? That just seems like completely gratuitous noise and fuel burn.

It's about as useless as a reporter standing outside (city hall, t station, bank, etc) where something happened yesterday. Except helicopters make more noise and burn more fuel.
