Moving the fireworks is just stupid. So many more people can view from the Charles River, meanwhile there's no clarification where exactly this year's fireworks will be viewable from...

Charles Street. There will also be great views from Tremont on the Common, Millennium Place and The Taj, but we aren't invited, unless we bring the torches and pitchforks.

I’ve been to the New Year’s Eve fireworks on the Common and enjoyed it. Could be a little tougher with all the leaves on the trees
Why on the Common?

If the Pops or the city are concerned about crowding, moving the fireworks display from the Esplanade to the Common is *not* the way to go. You can see an Esplanade display along both banks of the river for miles, which is plenty of room for people to spread out into (especially if there's no accompanying live concert).
I think I'll go to Newton or Waltham for July 4th fireworks... which will be much earlier than 10:30 pm.
No TVs on the Common -- another strange decision

The BSO has several years of experience with transmitting a Tanglewood concert to a large television screen on Boston Common. The annual events were called "Tanglewood in the City" and worked well. Why not do it again for this show?

@Ron Newman because we had 250,000 people one year on the Charles. I was there. It was awesome!
The fireworks were okay.

about why the Pops are not putting TVs on the Common for seeing the concert before the fireworks.

So they used the pandemic as an excuse to move from it being a public event to a private event for the wealthy. Awesome.
I mean, we've got high vaccination rates, protests proved a year ago during much higher infection rates that large outdoor gatherings don't result in transmission...

Methinks it will be a much smaller fireworks display than the ones launched from the barges. They've done fireworks from the Common for other things like First Night. I think this is just being cautious as the usual large display on the Esplanade could attract thousands of potentially maskless passengers on the T.
