The Boston Public Health Commission reports an explosion of blue-green algae in Jamaica Pond means the water's no longer fine for fishing or for dogs and kids to go in.
Also banned until the cyanobacteria bloom dissipates: Boating.
Based on initial visual inspection of the pond, it appears likely that Jamaica Pond is experiencing a harmful algae bloom. These blooms may produce toxins that can make people and pets sick. Park visitors are urged to avoid contact with the water and any areas of algae concentration, even on shore.
In the event that you, your child, or your dog comes in contact with the water or an algae bloom, rinse off immediately.

I'm half kidding because it works for fish tanks...maybe a thousand times bigger? :)
The city did install one in the Public Garden Lagoon this year

And a fountain in the middle of Jamaica Pond would be kind of cool, especially if illuminated at night (like Niagara Falls), but, yeah, the pond's probably too big for that.

…distanced from but basically bookending the swan boat dock. They were both going the other day when it was in the 90’s and the boats weren’t running.

Pond access?

And yet, Jamaica Pond has a standing ban there on swimming or access into the water, yes? You can fish from the shore and rent a small sailboat but not go in the water. There's a laundry list of drownings there that stretches back a long time... hence the ban.
I don’t understand the ban logic

Well, if we’re going to ban swimming in bodies of water where people have drowned, I would suggest the Atlantic Ocean would be a good place to start.
also, there is a laundry list of highway fatalities on the Mass. Pike going back half a century, but nobody talks about closing it to drivers.
