"It's a sea of blue lights," one nearby resident reported.

State Police report making five arrests among the "several thousand" people who made their way to the beach and add:

Many visitors to the beach engaged in unruly behavior and disorderly conduct.

State Police report arresting four teenagers at Revere Beach, on charges that included assault and battery on a police officer, unlawful possession of a knife, fighting, and disorderly conduct. in addition, one 52-year-old man was charged with domestic assault, a 62-year-old man was charged with procuring liquor for a minor and a 27-year-old woman was charged with drugged driving.

We’re fights at JFK yesterday, however I think it was unrelated to this.

Nothing urgent.

It may be simply frightening and horrifically unimaginable to newcomers but city life isn't all lattes and core stengthening.

Although I doubt youre a newcomer and most likely live nearby and just launching mortars of dumbness into the comment section.

Beach fights aren't a sign of societies fraying at the edges. It's societies edges coming into contact with the clueless middle.

Native Bostonian.

I suspect I have been a Bostonian much longer than most. Lived about a mile up Columbia Rd, past Upham Corner.
Had family in that area going back to the 1800s.

I have loved this city and cared for it a long time.

When did you move here?

up

Just as soon as Elizabeth Warren gives her instructions.

...whatever gets you through the day is fine with me, but I would suggest you lay off the crack pipe. If you think Elizabeth Warren is a right winger I think that places you between Marx and Castro.
Unless you are implying I am said right winger. Funny, all my Republican friends think I'm a card carrying member of the ACLU.
I appreciate your hate though.

What do you mean? Do you mean that Michelle Wu is a servant of Elizabeth Warren?

You made an accusation. Now please back it up with evidence. If none and you're just throwing mud because it feels good then thank you giving an example of what to expect from your philosophy.

It's because Wu was her student at Harvard, then was a campaign aide for Warren, received her initial publicity as a candidate for city council from Warren's endorsement, has used Warren's fundraising support to mount her own campaigns, is mayor because Warren recommended Marty to Biden as labor secretary, and has described Warren as her mentor.

I really do think she would ask "how high" if Lizzie asked her to jump. Not joking.

What a lawyer you would make. “Ladies and gentleman of the jury. Here is the evidence. The accused attended a school where many students sadly went on to lives of crimes. The accused father is a convicted criminal. The is also black so we know what that means in the probably of inner city criminality.

Therefore with all this evidence of circumstance and association there can be only one VERDICT.

That the reasoning is shamefully, embarrassingly, purposeful damning because the prosecutor has nothing of substantial value and so just resorts to flinging their own caca like a pissed off monkey.

But she is mayor of the WHOLE city I believe.

And that city is wounded and needs leadership.

You don't even live here.

And why no VERY SERIOUS rants against Brian Arrigo?

Revere Beach is way sketchier and incredibly more dangerous than Carson.

10-15 years ago it was a few dozen kids, now it's a flash mob of bored idiots.

Social Media amplified this.

And Social Media will continue to amplify it, at great profit, until an entire demographic believe that Boston is worse than the Bronx in '78 despite not even living here. So they vote accordingly in their boring suburban hamlets and do everything to keep the "have nots" out of their neighborhood.

And the beat goes on...

Boston has nothing to do with DCR beaches. The Staties have made certain of that because 1) get to do fights and 2-100) overtime

live at dcr beaches.

It would be good if some responsible leader would issue a statement along the lines of:

1.) This behavior is damaging to our community and will not be tolerated.

2.) Everybody in this city, anywhere in this city, at any time in this city, has the right and expectation to live without violence and to be respected.

3.) Meet with community leaders to identify steps to de-escalation to ensure that all people in Boston are allowed to enjoy the city.

Who should do this?

Swirls. Do you have DCR's phone number?

The city is wounded, it needs leadership. What does that mean? Do you mean that Wu is not providing any leadership? And what do you mean by the city is wounded?

Writing the she is mayor of the "whole city" suggests a naïveté and an ignorance of laws. The city government has not jurisdiction on property "owned" by the Commonwealth or the Federal government. Implying that any mayor has authority over those areas is just plain wrong.

Wondering your thoughts on the fights, rapes, thievery under the previous all white male cast of Boston Mayors?

Did you also say/think the same 5 months into their term?

Gee and we wonder why this city is stuck in the past and can't move forward...

An exhibit at the Boston Center of the Arts deals with segregation at public beaches and violent confrontations between police and black folk at beaches with photos of wild brawls at Carson beach in 1975. In 2022 the beaches are still segregated with Carson beach mostly black and M street beach mostly white.

Violent crowds at Boston beaches are nothing new. The comments implying that Wu is deficient in her response prove either ignorance of laws in the city and commonwealth at best, or, in the worst, are comments coming out of a nasty caca of racism and sexism.

For a largely liberal city there are still corners where folks pining to return to the "good ole days" when women were chattel and the northern European male remains in his "natural" place of superiority.

Just stop! She’s barley said a word unless forced too regarding the random acts of violence in Boston.

Calling her out isn’t racism, you thinking she should be held to a lesser standard because of her race IS.

How is a call for the leader of the city to step forward and denounce violent and abhorrent behavior a " a nasty caca of racism and sexism."

I think she told me the name the group liked to be known as, but I can't remember it. Not so much West Side Story, but something out of Laverne and Shirley if I recall correctly.

There was also the whole thing that the area is on the Dorchester/South Boston line, which played a role in whatever her friends were doing, which would not be what people of her (or even my) generation would think the issue would be. Just pure parochialism.
