Boston Police report a man was shot several times at Huntington Avenue and Museum Road, shortly after 11 a.m. on Saturday.
The shooting lead to a partial lockdown of the Museum of Fine Arts.
The suspect, Marcello Holliday, 27, of Roxbury, chose an escape route that took him past BPD headquarters on Tremont Street, where he was arrested and charged with assault to murder while armed, discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a building, unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition and carrying a loaded firearm, police say, adding that the victim is expected to survive.

Based on the police report, I wouldn’t describe the shooting as happening “outside the MFA”. 491 Huntington is the next block, across Museum Road. It’s not like this happened on the MFA lawn or parking lot.
The MFA statement refers to the shooting as being “in close proximity” to the Museum.

Don't worry, the dirty little secret that the project rats from Annunciation Road, who have been preying on people walking through the Fenway for decades, won't get out.
PS - When they pull up their shirt to reveal a gun while you have been slowly following two people you watched mug a person on Park Drive before the age of cell phones, you back off.

I hope the victim survives. A shooting in broad daylight anywhere is scary stuff.
Back in the last century, I used to live at 491 Huntington. We referred to it as "next door" to the museum.
Someone once broke in to my apartment at 491 and stole a winter coat, which was the most expensive thing I possessed at the time. I called the police and a detective responded and took some notes. I called him a few weeks later and he told me they arrested a 14 year old kid "from the projects", who had apparently been making the rounds. At that time, Annunciation Road was also referred to as "Assassination Road". I don't know if that's still a thing.
I never saw an actual gun in the neighborhood, but I did see a flash of someone firing a gun on Park Drive about a block away from where I was at the time. Back in those days there was no internet and no Universal Hub, so the only way to find out what happened was the newspaper. I never did see any news about the shots fired on Park Street.
As they say, those were the good old days.

And given that this location is steps away from the Green Line platform, “police action” measures may have been in place with the T as well? For me the difference between “close enough” and “outside the MFA” is fairly significant. But I guess for some people they may be the same space, just as “before the advent of cellphones” and “in the last century” may be in the same timeframe as “yesterday”.
There is some relevant information missing from the police accounts that I’ve seen so far, such as whether this was a robbery, random attack, or if perpetrator and victim knew each other. Were either of them actually at the MFA or somehow connected with the MFA?

I literally in a conversation yesterday with my big city-averse friend in BVT said to him "The bad stuff is usually confined to small areas. You won't get accosted outside the MFA."
