The Boston Licensing Board today ordered a one-day suspension for Red Line Pizza, 582 Dorchester Ave. in South Boston, after licensing cops found it open past its closing time on Sept. 3, the third such violation to come before the board over a three-month period.
At a hearing Tuesday, BPD Sgt. Det. William Gallagher said he and his partner entered Red Line around 12:08 a.m. that Saturday - to drop off a citation for an earlier closing-time violation - and found patrons at tables eating food as other people came in to pick up their takeout. On Saturdays, the pizza place can stay open until 2 a.m., but just for deliveries, not for people getting off the Red Line looking for a late-night meal.
On Sept. 15, the board issued a warning for a similar incident back in February.
At that hearing, owner Mohamed Mourad said he was in the process of applying for permission to stay open later for dining in. However, he has yet to actually file an application with the board to do so.

Probably ignored all sorts of other crimes going on across the street at the train station just to hassle some struggling business.

BPD has roughly 2,000 officers. I'll go out on a limb and say that the three detectives assigned to the licensing unit are not detracting from crime fighting elsewhere.
Food Apps, Perhaps?

On all food apps, you can order and pay through the app but pickup your food. Maybe people did that and sat down to eat it before heading back home. I think they should be granted to have people sit down since there is clearly demand for it.
