Minister who was also administrator at two BPS schools charged with shooting teen
Shaun Harrison, 55, is scheduled for arraignment this morning on charges he shot a 17-year-old at 100 Magazine St. around 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday, Boston Police and the Suffolk County District Attorney's office report.
Harrison was charged with assault with intent to murder, aggravated assault and battery and unlawful possession of a firearm, police say.
WBZ reports he was dean of students at English High School but has been fired. The Globe reports he was active in working with Boston Police on youth violence issues.
In 2007, he founded a group called Project Gang Out. In a panel discussion that included the head of the Boston John Birch Society, he complained that it was unfair he couldn't bring a bible to school and yet the school had a gay student group.
Until June of last year, Harrison worked as a community coordinator at the Boston Green Academy, a BPS in-district charter school in Brighton, where he organized anger-management classes for students.
In a discussion on a conservative cable-access show in December, 2013 with a panel that included the leader of the Boston branch of the John Birch Society, Harrison complained about how unfair it was gays could organize at the academy but he couldn't bring a bible in (about 14:10):
Even in my school, we can't have a bible, so that we can't have prayer, but yet, we got the gay alliance, they got gay stuff going on, they have a poster, coming out of the closet. ... They put posters up, they have a group, they talk about this, they talk about that, and it's like, but we can't talk about bible, we can't bring in our bibles in, we can't have bible study.
In 2013, his son, an anti-violence street worker, was arrested on charges of shooting a woman.
Innocent, etc.

Why does a minister need a gun? I think it would be more effective for him to wear some symbols of his office. You know, moral authority and all that, if he had a need for self defense. Which this doesn't appear to be, of course.
Holey Bible
Maybe he needed a holey Bible to hide his gun.
