NorthEndWaterfront.com reports the Ward 3 Democratic Committee this week endorsed Stephen Passacantilli for the District 1 seat (North End, Charlestown, East Boston) from which Sal LaMattina is retiring this year. The East Boston Times-Free Press reports state Sen. Joseph Boncore endorsed Lydia Edwards for the seat. Also running: Margaret Farmer.

The Globe reports that Joe Shortsleeve (yes, that Joe Shortsleeve) is running for the state Senate seat that James Timilty (yes, of those Timiltys) is giving up. Yeah, he allows as how he voted for Trump in November, but says it's no biggie because he's a big fan of the gays and abortion rights and believes in climate change and, besides, he's now disappointed in Trump and, even better, he voted for Sanders in the primary.

Unfortunately for him, at least on that point, is that one of his opponents in the Sept. 19 primary for the Bristol and Norfolk district is Paul Feeney of Foxboro, who actually helped run the Sanders campaign in Massachusetts.

NorthEndWaterfront.com reports that Jack Kelly of Charlestown won't run to replace Sal LaMattina as District 1 city councilor after deciding his heart wasn't really in politics. That leaves three other announced candidates in the race to represent Charlestown, East Boston and the North End.

Donald Osgood Sr., a city anti-violence worker and minister from Dorchester is one of four announced candidates for Boston mayor in the fall elections.

Kristen Mobilia, who has long been active in the Fenway Garden Society, which oversees the Fenway Victory Gardens, has filed papers with state elections officials for a possible race against District 8 (Fenway, Back Bay, Beacon Hill, Mission Hill) City Councilor Josh Zakim.

To get on the fall ballot, Mobilia will have to file enough signatures on nominating petitions that the city elections department will release next month.

Mobilia is also director of finance and administration at VideoLink, LLC, a Newton company that creates and manages videos for corporate clients.

Domingos DaRosa, a Hyde Park resident and former city youth worker who now runs his own property-maintenance business, has filed papers with state elections officials that he has organized a campaign to run for an at-large city council seat in this year's fall elections. Read more.
