For richer, for poorer: Two restaurant reviews

Penny gives a thumb's up to brunch at Asana, the restaurant in the new Mandarin Oriental on Boylston Street:

... I had the Brioche French Toast with blueberries and added a side of crispy bacon. While it sounds as if it could be a heavy version of the classic dish, it was quite the opposite. This French Toast almost floated off the plate. ...

Pam puts her thumb up for Fajitas and 'Ritas in Downtown Crossing:

Cheap Mexican food is easy to find, but cheap sit-down Mexican is not so forthcoming. Luckily, Fajitas & 'Ritas in Downtown Crossing offers south-of-the-border eats with less cafeteria-style ambiance. Whether you're looking for appetizers and pitchers of margaritas or a full meal, there's plenty on the menu that will satisfy. ...

When I first moved here around 10 years ago, my friends and I would regularly go to F&R because it had cheap frozen margaritas by the pint and you could write on the walls. Back then, alcoholic slurpees and all the tortilla chips you could eat was just the thing for a bunch of twenty-somethings fresh outta school.

You do tend to outgrow such things. I can't remember the last time I ate at Fajitas & Ritas in Downtown Crossing, but it was maybe a year or two ago and I do remember distinctly thinking the food wasn't as great as it used to be. Or had we just not noticed or cared back then?

People who get excited about Ramen or Free Domino's shouldn't write food reviews ;)

Their food is crap just like the service.

Here's their yelp:

If it's open, channel cafe has a better burrito. And everything else.

I would like to thank you all for questioning my mental health and ability to write reviews based on this one... yes, it's not my best, but I stand by the fact that I think the food was decent. No, not amazing, but I wasn't expecting 5-star here. But apparently you all eat fois gras and truffles every night.

Try looking at some of my other reviews or recipes - note no reviews of Ramen noodles...
