Oh, so close! A roving UHub reporter watched a near-storrowing on Memorial Drive, at the Mass Ave. bridge underpass early this afternoon:
An MIT police officer saved the day, they flagged the college-aged U-Haul driver down and backed him up to the offramp to Mass Ave.
Stephen M. reports this grim scene on DeWolfe Street at Memorial Drive this morning: Somebody's disassembled a couple of those rental scooters that suddenly showed up in Cambridge and Somerville last week - and left behind evidence of their work.
Scott discovered a new impediment to pedestrians and bicyclists along Memorial Drive this afternoon.

KMV had his eye on an underpass on the outbound side of Memorial Drive near the Longfellow earlier this morning when two cars tried to make it across a new lake there, but only one made it.

Well, what do you know? There were several close calls, but no actual storrowings this weekend on either river road, at least as far as we could tell. One of the close calls came late tonight, when the driver of a Stop & Shop 18-wheeler, who you really would think would know better, started to turn towards Storrow Drive, before realizing the goof and backing up, as Ari Ofsevit shows us.

MassDOT reports it got all the data it needed from closing off half the lanes on the turnpike between Allston and Beacon Street yesterday and so at 7 a.m., it re-opened the two lanes it had shut on each side.
Around 9 a.m., DCR tweeted that it was still planning to shut Riverbend Park and open Memorial Drive in Cambridge to car traffic today. Read more.
DCR is alerting pedestrians and bicyclists they better stay off Mem. Drive between Western Avenue and Mount Auburn Street in Cambridge this Sunday, because it will be open to traffic so that motorists don't have to be inconvenienced by the narrowing of the turnpike across the river.
State Police report a woman suffered serious injuries trying to get across Memorial Drive near Micro Center around 5:15 p.m.
State Police say the woman, whose identity they are still trying to ascertain, was hit in an westbound lane by a motorist driving a 2009 BMW M5. The road was shut in both directions for an investigation.
Richard Boese had come to a dead stop this morning, as one does in these bucolic days before classes begin, because there was a box truck in front of him, driven by someone who suddenly realized those "CARS ONLY" signs actually applied to him.
