Lightning bolts hitting BoltonRichard Beaubien captured twin lightning bolts hitting Bolton.

Maybe Leominster will still be with us in the morning. You know it's serious because Ed Harding on Channel 5 has his glasses down near the end of his nose.

DSG generally likes Channel 5's Heather Unruh, except when she says things like We're efforting this story:

John Keith watches the 11 o'clock news so we don't have to and reports Channel 5 just had a big graphic identifying the location of BPD headquarters as being in West Roxbury.

Ed. note: West Roxbury does, indeed, have a police station. It is SO West Roxbury: It looks like an overgrown colonial and is painted a pleasing light blue.

Longtime Chronicle co-host to pursue new challenges, WCVB says.

Globe: Workers evacuated after white powder found in S. Boston building
Channel 5: Mystery Green Powder Prompts Evacuations

Interestingly, they both rely on the same source at the Boston Fire Department. Wonder what color Channel 25 thinks it was?

The Channel 5 anchor finally went too far tonight with his dedication to his job (which in the past has included working both morning and evening shifts and coming in on weekends): He gamely tried doing the news with a bad sore throat (which made him sound like he'd been huffing helium), but around 5:40, Heather Unruh stuck a mug and a bottle of honey in front of him and announced he had to go home immediately - and that they'd brought in Liz Bruner to fill in.

While Harvey Leonard was only calling for 6-10 inches on Wednesday in tonight's forecast, Pete Bouchard was telling us could get up to 15 inches: "Wow! We're going to get hit pretty hard on the South Shore!" he said - adding Boston is also in that big band.

Harv did get points, however, for mentioning the Blizzard of '78, although he was referring to the Washington storm the other day. Pete, meanwhile, was pooh-poohing the 6,000-person snowball fight in DC: "You won't see us calling it 'Snowmageddon,' he said.

The Herald and Channel 5 both had stories on their Web sites this morning claming that a Milton man found dead in a Quincy snowbank yesterday was a Southie boyo who ratted out Bulger when Bulger turned his back on the guy's family after he was sent to the stir. The stories (the Herald broke it, Channel 5 reported on it) were complete with loving quotes from a fellow convict (former state Sen. and fraudster Joe Timilty) about what a great guy he was.

At Blue Mass. Group, David Kravits makes the case. At issue: What Coakley said in response to some question by Janet Wu on Channel 5's new political show. Speaking of which, KennedySeat.com wonders when the adults will show up on the show:

... In the three episodes of this show I have watched (I skipped Christy), I have continually been struck by how the guests just run circles around the hosts, who are clearly overmatched. Even Pagliuca, who is a neophyte in the political world, handled the Channel 5 team easily. ...

John Carroll sat amazed last night as he watched Rhondella Richardson narrate a report on swine flu with a face mask on - because she was standing outside the house of somebody who apparently had it. Or as he puts it:

A surgical mask?

Really?

When Richardson was nowhere near the maybe-infected family?

Really really pathetic.

Ross Levanto watches it this morning, gives it high marks, except for the Andy Hilleresque pop quiz.

Is it sweeps week? Do they even have that anymore?

The Globe reports that Price, mutual agreemented from Channel 7, is being considered for an anchor job at Channel 5.

Does anybody in Boston TV actually take the T?

In a story about the alleged grampa groper, Channel 4 said he was caught on the MBTA commuter train. In its story, Channel 5 said he was caught on an Orange Line trolley.

Surprisingly, the Pervo Post, um, the Herald, has yet to report on the arrest.

A 30-minute ad for ABC shows that uses those pop-up bubbles that were old on VH1 five years ago? ABC shows that, except for "Dancing with the Stars" and "Lost," will all be cancelled within two months? Really, ABC?

Dave Alpert doesn't mind that the WCVB weatherman boasts of meeting Jewel. What frosts him is how Wankum says he met Jewel:

... Mike Wankum explained that he met Jewel because at a KISS Concert they invited "my daughter and I back there" [to meet her]. That is retard English, ENTIRELY unbecoming of a TV celebrity with an advanced degree (and from a man that innocent, grammar loving children look up to). Shouldn’t he be punished like Phelps???? ...

Would it be obnoxious to point out that Alpert made a grammatical mistake in complaining about Wankum's grammatical mistake?

WCVB has announced that Dick Albert is retiring, with his last broadcast being 2/26. Harvey Leonard will take on Albert's duties at 5 and 6PM. Farewell and good luck Dickie!

Now, how does the extra Harvey Leonard affect the French Toast Alert level?
