An Eversource power cable near Woodland station burst into flames, shorting out service on the D Line. The T is now busing passengers between Riverside and Newton Highlands.
WBZ reports the seared cable also means no service for some 3,800 Eversource customers in Newton.

My sister tried to drop her husband off at Riverside just now and texted me: "the track is on fire lol had to go back and get him."

If Pablo worked for the MBTA their spokesman would describe his weight problem as moderate.
Nothing makes a Dad happier than shelling out several hundred dollars so his kids can watch the opening game ceremonies and being told to board the bus from hell and having to lie to his kids about getting to the game on time.
Lucky they've got that spiffy new commuter rail station!

No one would take the Green Line, D Branch to Fenway anyway, right?
But seriously, the daily downtime due to disrepair and damage is despicable.

This isn't due to MBTA mismanagement. This is a power company issue.
Eversource makes the MBTA look good.

the subway and streetcar lines generated their own power. Until management decided to abandon that in favor of buying power from the commercial grid.
So Eversource is not entirely to blame here.
Yeah and if they hadn't, then

Yeah and if they hadn't, then you'd be sitting here today cursing management for burdening themselves with the cost of generating their own electricity instead of saving money by buying it from the grid.
You know what would solve all these problems?

If the power company changed its name again!
Oh wait...
