And also a story about how we just simply can't spend one quarter of one percent of the annual state budget to build a fully grade-separated community path that would serve Boston, Somerville, and Cambridge residents for generations.
This announcement is a ploy to get ticket sales underway. The permitting process is not finished. Indy still needs approval from EPA, DEPA, USPS, and Conservation Commission, among others.
No one has been able to cite a statute showing the mayor has authority to give away our community to a private, for-profit company, to hold an activity that is illegal in the commonwealth.
Indy is not "engaging" with the South Boston community, as the mayor claims. They hold a meeting once a month and evade questions and concerns. BGP is totally unfamiliar with South Boston geography. They have not reached out to residents. They've ignored residents, including those that abut the route. They've completely ignored Southie and concerns about re-routing traffic from Conley terminal.
