Wicked Local Brookline reports Town Meeting tonight banned the landing of manned aircraft in residential areas. What? Was somebody with a GE logo on their car spotted prowling around town? No, must be something else; the Globe reports the public helipad Boston wants to build for GE will likely be on a pier behind the Blue Hills Bank Pavilion on the South Boston Waterfront.

In addition to GE, it also has nothing to do with Tom Brady buying a helicopter. Michael Burstein, himself a Town Meeting Member, explains the reasoning behind it all, that it's mostly due to protecting the town following a court ruling involving another town, but that some people were concerned the 2022 US Open at the Country Club might spur some to seek to land helicopters there (the bylaw also covers autogyros and zeppelins).

As soon as we're done fixing the Red Line, the #7 bus, the #9 bus, building sidewalks on Cypher St, and repairing inaccessible sidewalks on East 1st St, well get right on that.
