Thank God: Dunkin' Donuts to return to Government Center T stop

The Globe reports the T is letting Dunkin' Donuts return to the space it had on the Green Line platform at Government Center, which means commuters will no longer have to take the escalator all the way up to the plaza to get their pink-and-orange fix.

The appeal is that you can start sucking down the coffee before you get topside.
Or you can forego your coffee
Or you can forego your coffee because you're already running late, bolt down the stairs ... only to realize the train you need is at least 3 out and grab one while you wait!
(Granted, this was more applicable in the old days. It's easier to see the boards through the new glass structure. But still nice to just grab and run onto the train than risk a track switch throwing off your plan.)

I'm trying to think of any other stop on the T where you can get a cup of Dunks without going out the gates. Is that really the only one?
Oak grove
It's way the hell at the end of the line AND up the stairs from the platform, but yes, oak grove's java fix can be acquired from within the gates

The T's contracts with vendors now specify that they cannot sell popcorn. (This was discussed in some earlier Universal Hub threads)

Please tell me we didn't have a "wet leaves on the rail" incident with popcorn butter.

You can get arrested if you try to bring food or drinks onto the metro in DC. I found out after grabbing a latte before heading to a meeting. Wasn't arrested but lots of glares - thought they wanted my coffee. Makes sense - less rats if you stop feeding them.
Food should be banned on the
Food should be banned on the T. Other cities do it and it they have cleaner trains and stations. I don't understand why people can't go 10 minutes without eating or pick up after themselves and their kids when they dump a whole box of cereal on the floor.
New Normal
It's part of the new normal where people feel that public spaces like the T are their private living rooms. Eating, conducting highly personal conversations loudly on phones, applying makeup, cutting toenails (I'm not kidding, I've seen it), flossing, etc.

Where nobody has time to eat because they are working all the time.
The myth of the "time starved" person
People have bought into this fake myth for far too long. Manage your time better and you will have time to eat. Who are these people who are "working all the time"? They get no breaks at work to eat? They don't get up early enough to eat something before getting on the T to go to work? I once worked two jobs AND did volunteer work and I still had time to eat without having to resort to eating on the T. Let's get down to plain facts. People eat on the t because they want to, not because they have no other time to do it.
Eating should be banned on the T
Surely folks should be allowed to use the T to get to and from the grocer, yes?
Sure the MBTA police will be
Sure the MBTA police will be enforcing that just like they do everything else..... HA!
At the very least, they should discourage the consumption
of food and beverages on the premises by not having vendors sell them in the stations.
Illegal
Having to exit the station for donuts and coffee and then paying a second fare to get back in may be an illegal hole tax.
