Harpoon wants to run a weekend beer garden in nice weather
The Board of Appeal today approved a plan by Harpoon Brewery, 306 Northern Avenue, to run a beer garden on Friday and Saturday evenings at its brewery at 306 Northern Ave. in the marine industrial park.
The proposal, which could include room for up to 200 patrons, also needs approval of the Boston Licensing Board.
The company, which already has an indoor beer hall plans to use outdoor space that it now uses for production during the week. In addition to tables and chairs, Harpoon would also bring into portable toilets to handle the hordes.
The mayor's office and City Councilors Bill Linehan and Michael Flaherty supported the proposal. Nobody spoke in oppostion.

Put breathalizers at the exit. Is the location served by public transportation?
Sounds like fun.
DENIED!
Major corporate backer rather than mom-n-pop outfit
APPROVED!
Well, OK....
As long as they don't try to sell entire bottles of wine and it's mostly aimed at white people, then it's OK.
Harpoon
They're a local employee owned company. Sure they're bigger than some other brewers, but they're not exactly Miller.
Do I smell a happy hour?!
This sounds dangerously like it might make people happy and could take place during one or more set times of the week or month and, thus, constitute a wicked, vile and pernicious happy hour! Fie upon them! Fie! Thumbs to your noses Bostonians quickly fie upon them! Sorcerers.
Question
Are we still mad at Harpoon over the Harvard All-male club brouhaha (brewhaha)?
