A woman walking her dog along Back Street in the Back Bay this afternoon spotted these two men with bandanas on their faces waltzing away from the Dartmouth Street overpass, where they'd just placed a "Deport Them All" banner over Storrow Drive.
She reports their meticulously lettered banner greeted motorists for no more than three minutes:
A guy walking over the bridge flipped it and I had called the police so when I came back around the second time, a state trooper had pulled over on outbound side to come up and get it

Freeing the 4 million enslaved people-- over 12% of the US population-- justified the Civil War.
However, once the war was completed, compensating former slaves with property seized from slave owners & traders, directly granting the Black population of slave states their own seats in the House and Senate to be elected by *only* the Black voters of those states, and limiting political power of white voters in slave states until they demonstrated that former slaves were treated as full and equitable citizens in their boundaries, would have changed the southern political power structure to this day.
The problem was less the war, and more the failure to hold the south accountable & assist the slaves after the war.

Even so, part of the genius of "Get Out" (which I think deserves the Best Picture Oscar) was how Peele hilariously and trenchantly held up cliches about prosperous white liberals' supposed racial sensitivity and then gutted them. Bad behavior in theaters -- people getting up and down all through the movie, incessant yacking or bright-light texting on mobile phones, talking all the way through like they're in their own living rooms -- pushes me to wait for many films on Amazon or Netflix that I'm otherwise anxious to see. As a result, I've been to very few evening showings of a first-run Hollywood film in the theater for years. I'd kill for this.
I still get out to see indie, classic, and foreign films at the art houses, Brattle, Harvard Film Archive, MFA and the like: the audiences generally sit still, stay off their phones, and don't speak. In your experience, does the detail-cop thing only appear for movies that are tilted to PoC audiences?

This horrid audience behavior is not limited to hipsters in Somerville or rowdy kids (of any color) on a weekend night at the Common cinema. As an inveterate concertgoer I have noticed in the past 10 years or so the behavior of audiences at live shows has become intolerable. People show up as much as an hour into the performance and act like it's no big deal. Or they leave an hour before it ends. People constantly get up and leave their seats and come back. Exactly where are all these people going? They can't all be going to the bathroom (or the bar) all the time. People are checking their phones throughout the performance. They act like the artist isn't even there. I don't understand how people can spend upwards of $300 for a ticket for an artist or band they presumably like, and then not care that they are there. Exactly when and how and why did this behavior start? There must be whole books written about it.

They're covered because the left can't handle a different opinion without a tantrum. Trump didn't win Massachusetts, but he did win some towns and got significant votes in some cities, even Lowell, and that's with a solid democratic core. Clearly this site leans left, heck it's free-falling, but it's still a good way to get a different opinion. You can't let immigration violations stay and continue chain migration, it just encourages more. As you can see, the problems been ignored until it's exploded to affect millions of people. Deporting them all sends a clear message, and they all knew that was likely, unless you believe in everyone's doing it, it must be ok. One solution might be to give them 90 days to find a country willing to take them, otherwise send them back.
