The Democratic ballot in my
The Democratic ballot in my area looks like this:
without this info
and time to do a little research, I'd be voting blind in tomorrow's primary in many races such as auditor, GOVERNOR'S COUNCIL, and REPRESENTATIVE IN GENERAL COURT - TENTH SUFFOLK DISTRICT. The other races I've followed more closely.
Given this continued use of the totally
absurd and pointless system of requiring unenrolled voters to choose a political party in order to exercise their constitutional right to vote, it's no wonder we have such low turnouts for primary elections and such a high level of apathy to the elections process.
Not to mention the fact that your selection of party preference becomes part of the public record for the election, even if you remain "unenrolled" after voting. But apparently, people have forgotten the meaning of "secret ballot".
Give the voters REAL choices on primary day - put all eligible candidates on a single ballot with the instruction "Vote For One Only" in each race.
Politics aside
That's a cool little app on Secretary Galvin's website.
Similar to Globe
I'm not sure if the Globe is cribbing from the state or vice versa (or they're both using the same back engine), but the Globe has a similar setup along with a bio and the answers to a survey for each office for each contender for comparison. Once you choose who you plan to vote for in each case, you can print out a crib sheet to take with you to the polls to vote for whomever you chose.
sounds cool. got a link?
Thanks Kaz.
