Citizen complaint of the day: Pigeon poop replaces shimmering stars in Fort Point underpass

A grossed-out citizen filed a 311 complaint this morning about situation on A Street under Summer Street in Fort Point:

Unfortunately, the recently-installed netting under the Summer Street overpass above A Street has not solved the pigeon droppings problem onto the sidewalks - the birds now perch on the stone bridge support and pipes that were not covered with netting (and also sometimes get inside of the netting...). Sidewalks need cleaning again, and a better solution is needed to get the birds out of the neighborhood.

Last month:
The stars blink out above A Street.

As someone who walks that area everyday to and from work it is much much better. Perfect- no. But it’s a start. Maybe the next box to check is for those feeding the birds to stop.

Not to mention that staircase on the bridge is on the level of the one at JFK that came crashing down, but dont expect it to get fixed any time soon. As for the birds, can we try making a stew?

Them's good eatin.'

Well, OK, I once actually tried pigeon - at a Catalan restaurant in DC that listed it as "pigeon," not "squab." Tasted like chicken, of course, but a bit greasier. I did not ask the provenance.

Person is introduced to city life as opposed to "city life".

I also worked on Summer Street when you were having "weird new feelings" about Screech while you were watching Saved By The Bell.

Thanks for playing though.

Take a stroll down Valenti Way from the corner of Beverly Street all the way down to the Edward Brooke Court House. You'll be so happy to take the pigeon poop or dog poop any day. The human feces dispenser who I called the police on for dispensing his excrement on the sidewalk in front of the 7-11 was being applauded by his peers from mini-MassCass at corner of Portland and Causeway. When it rains they go inside the Bank of America kiosk and sleep on the rug. The sides walks are so bad that people now walk in the street.

That is not possible.

Check your shoes before getting in the tent or cardboard house. Ever hear of the old fashioned expression and thought that it's good luck if a bird shits on ya?

The resident flock of swooping, pooping pigeons is a menace, fed and encouraged by bench dwellers who have way too much time or their hands.

For the life of me, I never understood those people who "feed the birds" on the Common and elsewhere. It's unsanitary, unhealthy and unnecessary. If it's one thing birds know how to do, it's feed themselves. It's common knowledge. Even the Bible has something about "God providing for the birds of the air". I used to have a neighbor who threw entire loaves of sliced bread and other assorted pastries onto the sidewalk in front of her house for "the birds". Let's just say the rats caught wind of it too. They also know how to feed themselves.

Thats the thing I can't stand. People dump bird feed and walk away.

I don't recall piles of bird poo at Boylston?
