im glad we kicked the brits butts, sort of
and im also glad we're pretty good friends with them now, mostly
oh, except the argentine part of me, i guess that part of me says they can all go to hell and also
las malvinas son argentinas
Corrupt and Inept Government Causes War To Distract?
You can say that about Thatcher or the Junta.
Hate to say it, but after 1982, your claims to The Falklands died on Goose Green.
spoiler alert
i dont actually give two shits about the falklands
for that matter, neither does any argentine i've ever met honestly. the most memorable conversation i can recall about them is my father telling me as a kid how he saw footage of some british ship mounted cannon turning an argentine plane into confetti and how that always bothered him.
beyond that, there were bigger concerns in argentina. my argentine step mother talked about how in the 70s (i'm guessing, based on the fact she mentioned high school, and her age) people that were too mouthy against the state or whatever were taken out of class and never seen again
If it makes you feel any better ...
The Brits took out one of their own ships during the Falklands War with a missile, a bad guidance and targeting system that sent the missile into the ship that fired it, and said ship having enough flammable metal parts to make it difficult to extinguish.
it doesnt
i feel no ill will towards the british for it and getting killed in an accident even during a war is a crappy way to go
there are plenty of people i'd like to see extinguished in a missile related accident but random brits sent to south america in the 80s arent on the list
The Brits aren't our friends.
They spied on the president, aided Rafael Cruz with the Kennedy assassination and they destroyed healthcare. Pinochet was a great guy. Reminds me of someone though I just can't seem to nail down who that might be.
Great capture!
We normally don't get to see this kind of scene with snow -- great photo!
