Aren't there a couple of holidays to promote the heck out of first? In any case, Eileen reports the South Boston Stop & Shop is now pushing Christmas stuff.

I picked up a bag of halloween candy the day after the 4th.
I also got charcoal and a new swimsuit in February.
so sure, why not.
I think it goes a little earlier than even Labor Day

It feels like the holidays start on the tax free weekend (this year the weekend before Labor Day).
Thankfully the Christmas music hasn't started yet (?) - near 90 degree days don't exactly scream out "the most wonderful time of the year" (well, maybe to some people it does).

I mean personally I always thought of eggnog as more of a thanksgiving treat my self.

There's only one reason for this, consumer demand.
Holiday and season 'creep'
By roadman
Fri, 09/11/2020 - 9:44am
has nothing to do with consumer demand. Rather, the practice is based on a misguided presumption on the part of companies that starting the season earlier will result in greater sales and, thus, greater profits. And when they don't meet those sales targets, they wrongly surmise the way to meet those targets the following year is to start the season even earlier.
It is an obnoxious practice that actually serves no benefical purpose to society and should be abolished. Especially when it has become increasingly difficult to get many seasonal goods after a certain point in the season. For example, you can get a swimsuit in February, but try finding one in late July.

We have nearly completed our "life imitating art" transformation, year-round Christmas, all we're missing is the "Pardon Our Appearance" screening from the restaurant scene covering all our on-going disasters. On second thought, we're getting that too on Fox. Bread and circuses. Remember folks, "Suspicion Breeds Confidence!"

Sure, we have pumpkin spice flavored drinks in the fall which carry us over to the eggnog season but isn't that really more of a Thanksgiving flavor? I say it is and the market clearly has an opening for my new candy corn flavored beverage, the true flavor of Halloween. I am asking for $100,000 for a 10% share.

It's all one thing now, "the holiday season", and has been for some time. The actual specific holidays themselves are insignificant and anticlimactic. They take a back seat to "the season" which comes at us like the running of the bulls at Pamplona.

Egg nog should be available year-round. This is a good start.
(So should fresh cranberries.)

And one that is readily attainable. Year round fresh cranberries may be a good idea, but is not as easily attainable.

When it comes to Eggnog I want the real stuff. Give me that high fat hormone-laced Hood Golden product. The next thing they will try pushing is low sodium, low fat bacon-ish substance. Damned yuppies have ruined everything. Now they're going after Christmas.
