How about the guy we saw getting put into the ambulance?
So why BPD did not report it?

That's why, if you're in the news biz (or just play reporter at home), it pays to have a scanner and a Broadcastify account (for when you miss something, but see others reporting an incident, you can go back and listen to a recording of the scanner).

The complainer sort of has a point… although perhaps not the point they intended to make. My Journalism 101 class (and I never took 102, so, Adam, you are miles above my pay grade) stressed repeatedly that you only state that which you personally know to be true, e.g., “according to police radio traffic, a man was shot on Centre St.” Is fine, because you heard the scanner traffic, but the unattributed “a man was shot on Centre St.” Is not, because you don’t have personal knowledge of the event, and you aren’t giving the reader anything to go on if the reader wants to follow up and dig deeper.

I didn't go to journalism school or take any journalism classes (journalism wasn't considered a "liberal art" at my "liberal arts" school, at least not until like ten years later, when they decided it was), but you're also not supposed to rely on scanner traffic for a report, either.
I figure that officers have no reason to lie once they get to the scene, so they're going to be reasonably accurate as sort of first reporters (don't worry, I at least wait until I hear an officer at the scene say something about somebody being shot or yell "Push EMS!" or whatever, instead of reporting what a dispatcher says based on a 911 call or ShotSpotter report, both of which can be wrong).
In this particular case, there were people in the Jamaica Plain Facebook group and elsewhere who actually heard the shots, so that's another backup.
But I'm blathering. Yes, I should probably say where I got the information from.
Scanner news.

It's great to be able to listen to the scanner activity.
I use scanner radio which has the broadcastify feeds.
I also have a Radio Shack handheld scanner.
Unfortunately the police department in my city has encrypted their scanner activity.
I love listening to the Mass State police feeds.
We don't even get police reports in our newspaper anymore, we have to go to a website to find outdated police reports.
That are updated whenever
